2 supa deep tracks, really great atmosphere, remember me some Detroit influenced tracks or, for the new school, some guys like Neworldaquarium. Excellent !Fabrice Lig

Reminding me B12 and that period…lovelyGeoffroy Dewandeler (Mugwump / Hi-Phen / Eskimo Recordings / Brussels FM)

into this! More deepness which suits me fine!Clive Henry (Peace Division, Circo Loco, NRK)

I like this. Two quality tracks!Nico De Ceglia (Radio 1 / Discoid mag / Codex)

"Glittering Way" is lovely…really lives up to its name…Philip Sherburne (Earplug / EMusic / Urge / Pitchfork / Slate)

Glittering way is nice and bouncy. Baby moon is an awesome set opener for sure…really like the many subtle melodies in there!Stefan Bauer (Progressive World)

I really like Baby Moon, it’s the perfect opening track for me. I like how it changes up. I will be opening up a few set’s with this one.Santiago Salazar

baby moon is the pick of this package for me. deep space techno, very original sounding with influences of eastern asia. quality music and ill be playing this for my interstate 94 radio show without doubt.Lee Holman

itokim deliver here a great piece of techy house music with real detroit influence. Babymmon is a long travel through the space, deep & soulful. there is a lot of sensuality in this track. Glittering way is more groovy. The rhodes gimmick & the keybords lines are really good. The galaxy to galaxy strings shots style and the detroit drums bring a quiet force to the track. My favourite on the ep. A first promising release from itokim that i recommend to all real melodic music lover. Another very good (true) release for fine art recordings.Pedro Cali

After the success of Basic Unit’s ‘Fedass’ EP, Fine Art look to the east, Japan specifically, to consolidate their success. ‘Baby Moon’ is a deep, warm, analogous composition that begs to be played on a big system, having said that it’s just as likely to make you curl up in a crepuscular ball as make you dance. ‘Glittering Way’ is a subtle percussive journey lit up along the way by lightness-of-touch synth stabs. A sophisticated release which, for me at least, reminds me of some of Ferox’s more melodic moments.Paul Corey (Machines Are Funky)

Fine Art has already set up a strong track record with releases from the likes of Wink and Cattaneo. Next move is the debut release from Japan’s Itokim and very impressive it is too. The title cut is spaced and atmospheric with glistening textures and evocative melodic touches. Halfway, a ghostly new riff appears opening up another field for all the elements to play in. ‘Glittering Way’ is an electro-tinged space-shuffle which again works in subtle melodies and tweakings to create a deep, soulful mood. Fantastic debut, look forward to more from this name. 5 out of 5Kris Needs (DMC Update)

The work of new Japanese producer Itokim, ‘Baby Moon’ is a sleek yet rhythmically busy take on deep Detroit techno, and ‘Glittering Way’ although based on a breakbeat, still packs a powerful punch. 4 out of 5Richard Brophy (DJmag)

Finally, Itokim and I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who have been sending us excellent feedback. :-)))

Itokim – Baby Moon [Fine Art]

[ FAD 04 ]

Both tracks are very nicely produced with really well developed moody hooks. Baby Moon, deep techno that evokes feelings of late nineties IDM. On the flip side is Glittering Way is a proper deep mixture of techno attitude with house sensibilities. Both tracks go slightly too floaty for me in parts but on the whole very good indeed. Nice for sure !

fine art featuring interviews from nitzan hermon and fine art artists

one comment

Fine Art is built first and foremost as a platform to output outstanding and outstandingly versatile music. Having my inspirations lie in minimal techno, hip house and all elements of the Detroit / Chicago scene, I simply cannot (nor would I want to) allow myself to have the label’s musical agenda contained or defined.

Fine Art is proposed to be a home for like-minded individuals (producers, graphic artists, photographers, web designers and DJs.) Fine Art will act as a meeting point for inspirations and ideas. If I would like to compare this to some existing labels then I guess F-com, K7 and Versatile are models to me.

In the label’s roster decisions I will put an emphasis on innovation, creativity and attitude.

That said, I will not blindingly pursue the avant-garde and will find an equilibrium that will allow the music to be accepted as well as interesting.

This may sound far fetched but this has been developing for a long time in my mind. I have come to realize that now is the best time to put words into actions.

With Fine Art I will try to avoid a pattern of "rocket" success and quick fall, instead I will try and make the most of a steady stream of quality releases that will build a loyal crowd for the label’s output; A crowd of both DJ’s and vinyl-consuming-music-lovers.
